Parents are welcome :)
We encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s visit and accompany them into all treatment areas. This provides an additional level of comfort for children as they undergo the dental process, and an additional level of comfort for parents as they have the capability to observe their children within this setting.
What is Pediatric Dentistry?
An age defined specialty that provides both primary and comprehensive preventative and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special needs.
If your infant has begun teething, a first dental visit is not far behind. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that an infant’s first dental visit occurs as soon as there are (2) teeth that touch and no later than the first birthday. Ensuring your child’s infant teeth remain healthy is an important component in developing strong permanent teeth.
Kids need a dentist of their own! At our office we take a complete approach to children’s dentistry that goes beyond checkups and cleanings and provides focused expert care. In addition to working on your child’s teeth and gums, we speak to children in a way that he or she will understand the importance of what we are doing and why. We explain all procedures that will take place by utilizing age appropriate vocabulary and providing the proper education to help them maintain an at home oral health care routine.
Is your child frightened of visiting the dentist? If you are having a difficult time getting your child the dental care they need due to anxieties, then you have found the right office. With general anesthesia, your child can go through any procedure without pain and discomfort. We utilize highly trained general anesthesiologists to administer and monitor your child’s vital signs while treatment is being completed. When you opt for general anesthesia in our office you can be assured your child is getting the safest, most effective expert care possible.
NEW Laser Technology
One of the newest technologies in dental offices today are the use of the laser. There are many benefits and no drawbacks or side effects at all. While traditional drills relied on heat and vibration to do the work, the laser is simply an extremely concentrated beam of light. There is no heat and no vibration at all.
One of the biggest benefits that lasers offer is the reduction of bleeding. The laser actually cauterizes the vessels as it works, greatly reducing the amount of bleeding in certain procedures. Because there is no actual cutting, lasers mean no stitches. The use of lasers means a much shorter healing time is needed. Lasers actually sterilize the area as the dentist works. This reduces the chances of infection to nearly nothing.
General Anesthesia for Kids
We are dedicated to making every dental visit as pleasant as possible. Dr. Baker will review your child’s health and dental histories, learn your concerns and answer your questions. After the initial consultation, your child will be escorted to the treatment area. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child and share the experience.
It is our belief that prevention is the most important factor in the treatment of dental disease. This is why we take the time to teach children about good dietary habits, brushing, flossing, and avoiding trauma to their teeth.
Handicapped children experience the same dental problems as other children, although some cases are magnified by their condition. Through extensive training, Dr. Baker has the capabilities to identify these conditions and is able to provide the necessary required dental care. Both of locations are handicap accessible.
